Introduction
Angiogenesisisafundamentalprocessinvolvingthegrowthofnewbloodvesselsfrompre-existingvessels.Itisimportantindevelopmentandwoundhealing,aswellaspathologicdiseasessuchasdiabeticretinopathyandcancer.Duringangiogenesis,endothelialcellsneedtomoveoutofexistingvessels,migrateintonewareas,proliferateandassembleintonewcapillaries.Themigrationofendothelialcellsisregulatedbymanyangiogenicfactorsandanti-angiogenicfactors.Itiscriticalforresearcherstounderstandthemechanismsofendothelialcellmigration.

Millipore"s3μmQCM™EndothelialCellMigrationAssay–Fibronectin,ColorimetricprovidesaquickandefficientsystemtostudytheABIlityofcompoundstoinduceorinhibitendothelialcellmigration.Thisassayalsoallowsscreeningofpharmacologicalagents,evaluationofintegrinsorotheradhesionreceptorsresponsIBLeforendothelialcellmigration,analysisofgenefunctionintransfectedcells,anddeterminationofECMproteininvolvementincellmovement.

Thisversatileassaypermitscountingofindividualmigratorycells,and,moreimportantly,allowsquantitativeanalysisbyopticaldensity(OD)usingastandardmicroplatereader.Thisconvenientassayallowslargescalescreeningandquantitativecomparisonofmultiplesamplesandincludesindividualmigrationcontrolsforeachsample.
